I am a native Seattleite and earned my bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University studying urban sustainability, urban public health, and toxic chemical use in personal care products. I received my Master’s degree from Humboldt State University in their Environment & Community program, which focuses upon the intersection of humans and the natural world.
My interests are diverse in the field of sustainability, and include sustainable development, climate change mitigation/action, fossil fuel divestment, alternative energy, animal rights, environmental and social justice, toxic chemical reform, and environmental/public health education and advocacy.
In addition to my academic ambitions, I am also passionate about creating safe personal care products, learning about safe products available to purchase, and educating others about reducing their exposure to toxic chemicals. I have developed, and continue to update and add, informational material that I make available online, such as one-page guides or helpful tips for shopping. I am expanding my repertoire of DIY projects slowly, mostly working on body butters, lotion bars, facial oils, sugar scrubs, clay masks, and skin condition specific balms and salves.
Prior to graduate school, I worked at Virginia Mason Medical Center providing project and administrative support in their sustainability department.
